2.0 ENTRIES
2.1 No registration or entry fee is required to join.
2.2 This is an online competition, so anyone joining during the specified join time is considered an entrant.
3.0 SAILPLANES
3.0 Open, 15 meter, Standard, and 18 meter are the official classes of Sierra Hotel Racing.
3.1 Open Class allows you to choose from any sailplane available in Condor.
3.1.1 It is important to note that there will be no handicapping in open class.
3.2 15 meter class allows you to choose from the Ventus 2, ASW-27, or the LS-6.
3.3 Standard class allows you to choose from the Discus 2, ASW-28. of the LS-8.
3.4 18 meter class allows you to choose from the Ventus 2cx, Discus 2c, ASG-29, ASW-28-18, LS-8s, or the LS-10.
3.5 A different sailplane within the class of the current competition may be flown on each day. It is up to the pilot's discretion.
4.0 PROTEST
4.1 All protests can be made on either the Condor forum, gliderracing forum, or via email.
4.2 It is important to note that rule changes will not be made in the middle of a contest period unless there is a very serious flaw found in the rules that currently stand.
4.3 If it is found that a rule change would better the quality of the competition, that change will be made in the next contest cycle.
5.0 SAFETY
5.1 Even though we fly Condor in the comfort of our own homes, all pilots will make an effort to fly in a safe manner.
5.2 Thermalling turns near the start gate and home field will always be made to the left unless terrain will not permit a left turn.
5.3 The turning direction of the first pilot in a thermal must be followed by all other pilots entering that thermal.
5.5 Anyone making a nuisance of themselves by turning in the opposite direction in a thermal may be subject to getting kicked from the server.
6.0 CONTEST FLYING
6.1 Join time will start every Wednesday at 0100Z and last for 30 minutes.
6.2 The "Race in" time will be 5 minutes and the gate shall remain open for 30 minutes.
6.3 If the contest is a Grand Prix, your start time begins when the "Race in" time ends.
6.4 Start / finish sectors and turn point sectors can be of varying size and shape.
6.5 The start gate will always have, at minimum, a 5000' AGL gate height restriction.
7.0 SCORING
7.1 .csv files as provided by Condor or Show Condor IGC will be used for scoring.
7.2 If a task is set as an AAT or MAT, an .igc file must be submitted at the end of your flight or you will receive 0 points.
7.3 Anytime a pilot crashes after having gone through the start gate and before passing the finish gate will result in 0 points.
7.4 A disconnect from the server will be treated as a crash unless an .igc file is submitted immediately after the pilot lands offline.
7.5 A 25 point landing bonus will be awarded to anyone that does not make it home, but lands at an airfield.
7.5.1 An IGC file and a snapshot showing that you have landed on the airfield must be provided after you exit the race in order to receive the 25 point bonus.
8.0 PENALTIES
8.1 The only point penalties that may exist during a normal contest day are entering a penalty area as defined by the task.
8.2 No cloud penalties will be used.
9.0 CHEATING
9.1 Sierra Hotel Racing does not employ any automated cheat detection through the use of .igc files or .ftr files. There are no prizes and there is no money at stake so it is expected that all pilots will compete honestly and see no need for cheating. Any pilot suspected of cheating will be dealt with privately. There will be no public castrations on the forums regarding cheating activity. That pilot will be banned from the remainder of the current contest and allowed to rejoin the next competition. If cheating persists that pilot may be subject to a league ban.
